We’re excited to welcome Bryan Vann, Ilina Mitra, Jaikumar Ganesh, and Rahmi Marasli to Baseten! They each bring deep technical expertise and experience building systems and teams at scale, and they’ll help us grow engineering as we support our customers’ most ambitious AI workloads.

Bryan Vann: Bringing foundational systems experience to inference

Bryan joins the Baseten Inference Stack (BIS) team from Kindo, where he was co-founder and CTO. Previously, he spent sixteen years at Google, where he was an original architect of Google Drive and went on to lead much of its engineering organization as Senior Director.

His career combines hands-on experience building foundational systems with the perspective of leading large teams and running a company. At Baseten, he’ll apply that experience to BIS, the platform that serves models efficiently and reliably in production.

Bryan knows what it takes to build software that people depend on every day. We’re excited to have him bringing that experience to our inference stack alongside the team.

Ilina Mitra: Scaling our inference platform

Ilina joins as Head of Inference Platform from Meta, where she led the PyTorch Inference Acceleration organization. Her team was responsible for optimizing Meta’s most critical recommendation and generative AI models and bringing them into production.

She brings deep expertise in inference, spanning performance optimization and large-scale serving, along with firsthand experience solving the engineering challenges that come with operating AI systems at massive scale.

At Baseten, Ilina will help grow our inference platform and the teams behind it. Her experience connecting performance work to the demands of production makes her a strong addition as our customers’ workloads increase in scale and complexity.

Jaikumar Ganesh: Connecting deep engineering with customer problems

Jaikumar joins from Anyscale, where he was Head of Engineering. He helped build the engineering team behind Ray and Anyscale and played a direct role in winning the company’s earliest customers. Previously, he spent 7 years at Uber, where he led Applied ML and ML Infrastructure, working on problems including ETA prediction and location accuracy, and also started the Uber Bengaluru Engineering Office. Earlier in his career, he was part of the Android 1.0 team at Google.

Throughout his career, Jaikumar has paired deep technical experience with a close understanding of customer needs. He’s helped turn foundational technology into products, built teams from the ground up, and operated systems at scale.

At Baseten, he’ll bring that experience to our forward-deployed engineering team, working closely with customers on their hardest inference problems. We’re excited for the perspective he brings to that work and to the broader engineering organization.

Rahmi Marasli: Building the platform that supports our growth

Rahmi joins as Head of Product Platform. Most recently, he was Head of Engineering at NexHealth. Before that, he led the development of Databricks’ commercialization platform and spent nearly 15 years at Google building AI and ML platforms.

Rahmi has built and led teams through several different stages of company growth, and brings experience building platforms that the world’s most demanding enterprises depend on.

At Baseten, he’ll help strengthen the foundations that support our products and enable our engineering teams to move quickly. We’re thrilled to have his experience as we develop the most secure and scalable enterprise platform for inference, training, and agents.

Come build with us

Bryan, Ilina, Jaikumar, and Rahmi bring technical judgment and experience that will help us grow both our systems and our teams. We’re thrilled to welcome them to Baseten.

We’re continuing to hire across engineering, including inference, model performance, infrastructure, product platform, and forward-deployed engineering. If you want to work on hard problems alongside people who care deeply about what they build, we’re hiring.
